Véronique Serret - PRIMA VOLTA
Format: Album (Digital and CD)
Release date: October 12, 2022
“PRIMA VOLTA aims at an expression of the idea, drawn from philosopher Jacques Derrida, that each time is the first time and, equally, that no time is the first time. As there is always a space, however infinitesimal, between making a sound and the occurrence of that sound, every sound is already repetition. In this way there is always discovery and nothing can be fully known.”
— Barbara Clare
This project began in 2015 as part of a residency at Campbelltown Arts Centre. I had finally received my custom 6 string violin from luthier Paul Davies and had my assortment of pedals ready. A looper, delay, space reverb and of course distortion. We put out an international ‘Call for Scores’ encouraging an avalanche of new works for the 6 string violin.
Huge Thankyou to the amazing Matthew Steffen and the team at Campbelltown Arts who got this party STARTED!!!
