Ray April introduces her keenly emotive brand of indie pop with her debut single “Louder”, the first taste of upcoming EP Chasing Echoes.

“Louder” rings with quiet urgency in the soulful and sincere vocal delivery, lifted by a pulsating bed of synths and drums. Smartphone recordings of Ray’s guitar-and-vocal demos pepper the track, providing counterpoint to the refined beat production and an intimate glimpse of Ray April’s musicality. The song is written about one of Ray April’s close friends — a girl with a cool, stylish aura, who sometimes struggles to recognise her own strengths.

“The solitude that you can only experience at night is often what drives creativity and motivation for many people, and that’s true for her as well. But at the same time, nighttime solitude can amplify whatever fear or thoughts swirl around the mind. Silence and darkness can actually be louder than any symphony of noise and lights.”
